Swim Marathon

Several of our more energetic members took part in a swim-marathon, organised by a neighbouring Lions Club in Maidenhead. On a cold day in January they braved the waters at the Magnet Liesure Centre and raised £348.00.

The swimarathon is run by the Maiden Head Lions Club as their main fund raising event and raised over £17,000 last year. Teams consisted of 6 - 8 swimmers who try to achieve as many laps as possible within 55 minutes.

The Reading Lions team completed 63 laps of 50 meters each and raised £348.00.The Lions Club of Reading team consisted of Lion Mike Holloway, Lion President Eric Warner, Lion Suzanne Dore, Lion John Mack, Robert S Smith (Lion John's Grandson) and Tim Guttridge (a good friend of our Club). Lion Koula Mack, daughter Jenny and Lion Graham Dore were the lap counters.
