Newsflash Reading Buses: Oxford Road Sewer Works

The following is taken from the latest press release (780) for Reading Buses.

BUS DIVERSIONS FOR OXFORD ROAD CLOSURE
'Flagship service purple 17 will be among Reading Buses routes affected by the forthcoming closure of Oxford Road for sewer works.

From Saturday, October 26, Thames Water will be carrying out repairs between Grovelands Road and Beecham Road which will be closed to traffic for an estimated 10 to 14 days.

As well as purple 17, sky blue 15 and 16 and football bus F22 will be diverted.  Depending on when works finish, school service TG4 may also be diverted.

Buses leaving Reading Town Centre (towards Tilehurst / Purley) will run as normal as far as Reading West Station.
After this stop, they will then divert along Beresford Road and Portman Road.
At the junction of Portman Road and Oxford Road, sky blue 15 will turn left to resume its normal route down Grovelands Road.
Sky blue 16 and F22 will turn right to resume their normal routes and purple 17 and TG4 will go straight over the Norcot Junction roundabout to resume their normal routes.

The diversion towards Reading sees sky blue 16, purple 17 and F22 all leaving Norcot Juntion stop before using Grovelands Road to join sky blue 15 along Water Road and Tilehurst Road, before using Western Elms Avenue to resume their normal routes from Reading West Station stop.

Although all stops between Beresford Road and Pond House / Norcot Junction will not be in use, there will be temporary stops available on the Oxford Road just before Beresford Road and on Portman Road by the Tesco petrol station.

There will also be a stop just after Norcot Junction for purple 17 and TG4 customers. Buses on the inbound diversion will use all existing stops along the route.

Reading Buses advise customers that there could be delays to these services whilst the sewer repair works are in progress.  However, they will endeavour to keep customers informed through their website www.reading-buses.co.uk and social media.'
